My Bio
Like many in the 33rd, I have personally experienced the struggles families face to find decent jobs and provide for their families. This has become my motivation, and my source of internal strength. I want to represent the people of the 33rd district to grow our local economy and bring good paying jobs with real opportunities to our community. People who know me know that I will give a voice, and a listening ear, to each person in the 33rd district.
My parents instilled their strength in me, based on a foundation of family values and a strong work ethic. I come from a solidly blue-collar family who worked hard every single day to ensure a better life for my sister and I.
Those experiences helped forge who I am and are the same values I impart to my own son today. I am most proud to be a single mother to my son who is the biggest source of joy and happiness in my life. And like most parents, making his life better than my own is my single most powerful source of motivation.
I keenly understand the challenges and struggle of raising a child during this unique and difficult time in history. It is critical to ensure a quality education and ensuring access to educational, extracurricular, cultural, recreational and athletic programs.
We must have real leadership if we want to make our community the best place in Delaware to raise a family with great schools and opportunities for good paying jobs. As a single parent, I also know the struggle of finding affordable medical insurance for our families. This is why I will work hard for accessible and quality healthcare for everyone.
I attended grade school in the Caesar Rodney School District and was fortunate enough to continue my education at Wilmington University, where I received my Bachelor of Science In Business Management. I am forever grateful for these opportunities, which fulfilled my parents dream that I could complete my education despite our early struggles.
In 2013, I began working for the State of Delaware initially for the Division of Corporations. It was at the Division of Corporations that I impressed with the importance of Delaware’s role in the global economy as the world’s Corporate leader, and as the place where the Nation’s largest corporations come to resolve their disputes in our Court of Chancery.
This opportunity taught me the balance of Delaware’s economy: the unique circumstance of having a world class business community coupled with small, but flourishing, local businesses. Make no mistake, however, this balance not only needs preservation, but needs to be tended by elected officials who understand that, in a world plagued with a pandemic, our small businesses need resources and care.
It was during my time at my first state job, that I made it my priority to involve myself in the local community, primarily through volunteer work in local politics, charitable organizations, and most importantly, with my son’s school.
In 2019, I joined the Office of the Auditor of Accounts, working as an Auditor for the State. In this role, I have the privilege to work for the taxpayers and help protect them from fraud, waste, and abuse. As the daughter of hard working, blue collar parents, I know how precious the tax dollars are and how we must use them wisely by investing in our communities. I have my Certified Fraud Examiners Certification (CFE) and am a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
